A Clinical Study of Children with Febrile Convulsim

Abstract
We have observed the clinical findings of 60 children with febrile convulsion who were admitted to Wonkwang university hospital from January, 1986 to June, 1988. The following results were obtained. 1) In sex distribution, the boy(53.3%) outnumbered the girls(46.7%) 2) First attack of febrile convulsion had the highest incidence in children from 6 month to 2 year of age(55%). 3) There was 21.6% incidence of family history of convulsion: febrile convulsion in 18.3 %, epilepsy in 3.3% 4) The type of convulsion was mixed tonic and clonic in 63.3%, tonic in 20%, and clonic in 13.3%. 5) The most common cause of fever was pharyngotonsillitis(80%), which was followed by pneumonia(6.7 %), gastroenteritis (5 %). 6) Duration of convulsion attack was within 10 minutes in 78.3% of patient. 7) EEC findigs after 1 week of febrile convulsion were abnormal in 28.1 % of 32 cases. 8) Lumber punture showed mild pleocytosis in 2 cases, but normalized in follow up study.
